Fabricated Steel Sleeve Storage Rack for the Aluminum Industry

Since 1969 A & S Fabricating Co. has been a reliable provider of large fabrications for applications across a broad range of industries.

The storage rack highlighted here is an example of a project we produce here at A&S Fabricating Co. This massive, heavy duty structure was designed to store pipe sleeves for aluminum coils. It features dimensions of 26’6” in length x 13’2” in width x 8’6” in height and weighs 15 tons. It was constructed from ½” and 1” A36 steel plate as well as a variety of structural beams and channels. Raw material was cut to size using heavy duty saws, a CNC burning/plasma machine, and our welders used their expert skills to create the high strength joints necessary for long lasting structural integrity. Finishing involved sandblasting and then applying one coat of primer followed by a coat of blue.

Rigorous measurement and inspection at all critical phases of production confirmed we met the 1/16” tolerance requirement, welds were defect-free, and paint was the specified mil thickness.
